Facility: Opened in 1951. Newly constructed school opened September 2008.

Highlights for 2017-18

  • Increased the number of students who are making growth on all school and district assessments.
  • Received School of Distinction honor for the second straight year. This award celebrates schools whose growth in reading and math are among the top 5 percent in the state.
  • Fully implemented RULER in our school. We also hosted our first family RULER night.  RULER is a program that helps students become aware of their emotions and emotional regulation.
  • Continued to increase the academic language of our English Language Learning students.
  • Worked toward 19/20 of all our students meeting grade level proficiency or better.
  • Our attendance team worked with families and staff to ensure students are getting to school and class on time. The team informed families of supports we can offer to help students attendance.
  • Decreased our overall out-of-school suspensions.
  • Built up our student’s ability to express their thinking in academic conversations.

Plans for 2018-19

  • Continue to build our English Language Learning students ability to comprehend grade level text as well as academic language.
  • Work toward the goal of every Shorewood student reading at or above grade level and displaying comprehension of what they are reading.
  • Build even stronger family connections through the RULER program as well as the work of our attendance team.
  • Build on our overall culturally relevant practices.
  • Shorewood students will continue to show growth on state, district and classroom assessments.
  • Implement a positive behavior intervention plan that focuses on strengths as well as needs.
  • Build on our student’s ability to express their thinking in academic conversations.
  • Deepen our overall collaboration to increase student learning and achievement.

Families and community members are encouraged to participate in school activities and in educating students in school, at home and in the community.
